Eyeballs Eyewear in Paddington is a Sydney stockist of Lindberg glasses and sunglasses, and we hold the Air Titanium rimless and rim collections, the acetate and buffalo horn ranges, and the n.o.w. titanium line, all specified and measured in store. Come and try them on at 342 Oxford Street, ten minutes from the Sydney CBD, open seven days.
The most quietly radical house in eyewear
Since 1969 the Danish company has built frames with no screws, no rivets and no welded joints. The entire structure is held together by the spring of the titanium itself. That sounds like a detail and is in fact the whole design: with nothing to work loose there is nothing to tighten, nothing to strip, and nothing to fail at the point where every other frame eventually fails.
A rimless Air Titanium weighs around three grams. You genuinely stop noticing it on your face. The temples flex to the head rather than clamping it, and the nose bridge is bent to your own bridge profile rather than chosen from three stock sizes — which is why Lindberg is the range we fit most often to people who had decided glasses were simply uncomfortable.
The collections, and how they differ
Air Titanium Rimless is the frame the house is known for: a titanium wire structure and no rim at all. Air Titanium Rim adds a full or half rim in the same idiom for people who want the lens edge defined. Strip Titanium works in flat, ribbon-like titanium, and n.o.w. is the lighter, more colourful titanium range with a squarer, more contemporary shape. Acetanium puts an acetate front on a titanium chassis, the Buffalo collection does the same in natural horn, and the Precious line runs the same designs in gold and platinum.
All of it is made to order in Aarhus, hand-finished and individually numbered. The sun models use the same structures and the same fitting logic, and even the larger sun shapes stay light enough that they do not press on the bridge after an hour.
What we hold in Paddington
Lindberg is a system rather than a rack of finished frames, so what we keep here is enough of every collection for you to feel the difference before you specify your own.
- Air Titanium rimless and rim frames, optical and sun
- Acetate and buffalo horn collections
- The n.o.w. titanium range
- Full custom colour and component specification — rim, temple, bridge and finish chosen separately
- Children's and teen frames from the same screwless system
- Measuring and fitting done in store, not sent away
Building your own, and who it suits
The thing almost nobody else does properly is let you build the frame: rim shape, temple style, bridge, and a colour on each, across more than a hundred finishes in matte titanium, acetate and horn. Two people can order the same model and walk out with completely different glasses. It also means the frame has to be measured and specified in person, with your prescription in hand, because lens thickness and pupil position change what will actually look right.
Lindberg suits high prescriptions, sensitive skin, small or asymmetric bridges, anyone who has broken frames at the hinge before, and anyone who simply wants glasses they forget they are wearing. It suits people who want presence rather less — this is deliberately understated eyewear, and the horn and Precious collections are as loud as it gets.
Lead times, prescriptions and repairs
Because every frame is made to order, there is a wait — usually a few weeks, longer on horn and custom colour combinations. We would rather tell you that at the start than discover it at the end. Prescription lenses are edged in store, which matters on rimless, where the lens is drilled and mounted to the frame and a fraction of a millimetre changes how the whole thing sits.
