The Persol 714 is one of the most iconic sunglass styles in existence, largely due to the fact that they were a favourite of style icon Steve McQueen.
Now, the folding Italian-made Persol 714s have become even more tempting than ever thanks to the 714 Steve McQueen Special Edition series of five new colourways, including one with lenses that have been plated with actual 24K gold.
Iconic for decades, these sunglasses continue to define cool. In 1968, Steve Mcqueen donned a pair of Persol 714's for his role in The Thomas Crown Affair, and has been associated with the frames ever since. McQueen was so fond of the 714 model that he continued to wear them in his personal life, in addition to on film.
The obvious standout in the new collection is the unique Limited Edition Persol 714SM, as it features special packaging and exclusive 24K Gold-plated lenses in a Havana frame for a seriously high-end look.
Joining the new flagship in the lineup are four other new colour variants of the Persol 714SM: Light Havana (Terra di Siena) with light blue polarized lenses, Havana with green polarized lenses, Black with smoke gray polarized lenses, and a striking Honey (Miele) frame with gradient sky blue polarized lenses that were inspired by the first plane McQueen ever flew, a Honey-colored Boeing-Stearmen.
